It enables the tracking of a range of crucial ecommerce specific data, like product views, add to carts, transactions, refunds, and abandoments, so you can get a very precise picture of how your online shop is holding up. Specifically designed, as the name implies, for ecommerce sites, this essentially means your Universal Analytics can be tracking a whole host of relevant data by default, without having to manually specify each parameter.
